Awed and Attracted. He is one of the most aggressive and talented freeskiers of our age. Born and raised in the BC backcountry, with a bloodline alive with adventure and a style carved from the landscape itself, Kye Petersen is about to blow the doors off of big mountain skiing. Fearful yet Fascinated. Numinous explores the relationships and connections with the natural world that are necessary to safely dance with mountain faces covered in snow. Tuning out and tuning in. Shot exclusively in British Columbia, Numinous follows Kye and a cadre of fellow snow-sliders into the heart of the some of the most aesthetic and demanding landscapes around. The Masquerade is a conceptual freeski movie by Super Proof Inc., directed by Leigh Powis and starring Sean Pettit. It blends high-level backcountry skiing in Alaska with an eccentric “thriller” storyline, featuring a plot about five skiers scamming the industry, set in Whistler, BC. The film is known for its artistic, slightly bizarre, Lynchian style, mixing intense ski action with dramatic, almost abstract, narrative scenes.
Callum Pettit’s early life was spent in the shadows of his little brother’s pro ski career. While the brothers were a package deal for sponsors, Sean Pettit was the draw. Eventually, Cal and Sean’s sponsorship paths went separate ways, which left Cal figuring out what was next…..Which was new sponsors and a blue collar career compared to Sean’s white collar lifestyle. Throughout it all, there was never any drama between Cal and Sean and it’s cool to hear the story from both sides. This podcast is Cal’s version.

In 2003, 11-year-old Sean Pettit burst onto the freeskiing scene. By the age of 18 Pettit was already considered to be one of the best skiers in the world. His ability to blend huge, jaw dropping lines with innovative new school style set Sean apart as the torch bearer for the future of big mountain skiing. Now, after a full season on the sidelines recovering from an ankle injury in Winter 2013/2014, Sean is back on track and ready to rock with what is perhaps his most prolific season ever. Not only did Sean produce the award-winning Superproof film, The Masquerade and film a part for ESPN X Games “”Real Ski” competition, he is the star of the latest Red Bull TV’s original series “”Keep Your Tips Up.””
Sean Pettit attends the Powder Awards and gears up for the first winter session of the season at Whistler, Canada, joined by snowboarders Mikey Rencz, Eero Niemela, and Iikka Backstrom. The Groovemeister begins his new career as a restaurant owner.
